Incroyable. These just underscore what a loss it is that Alexander McQueen is gone. As we know, it takes a very special woman to wear McQueen heels. So, my question is, who will be the first to wear these: Daphne Guinness, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, or Rihanna? And if I was to pair each diva with the shoe, from top left clockwise I’d say: Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Daphne Guinness, Nicki Minaj.
This final collection designed by Alexander McQueen is full of such bittersweet beauty. There are so many metaphors to be found in the collection’s neo-romantic renaissance splendor. The clothes have a regal, angelic feel with beautiful prints that recall the Florentine Quattrocento. It is testament to the artistic and creative genius the fashion world has lost. This Spring 2010 advertisement from Alexander McQueen has just been revealed featuring those insane armadillo heels that Lady Gaga wore in Bad Romance. I am in complete awe. This looks like Medusa was forced to be a contestant on Fear Factor, if Medusa were a stunning Raquel Zimmerman and wore McQueen.
Can you imagine lying there with those snakes writhing all over your body? Just think if one started squeezing a little too tight, you’d be completely immobile in those heels. On the other hand, suffocating by a technicolor snake in McQueen is a pretty fabulous way to go. I always say I want to be enshrined in Prada.
Can we just take a moment here to marvel at the visual genius in this video featuring Lady Gaga’s latest single, Bad Romance? The song itself is not my favorite, but the video is other worldly. The fashion and styling is jaw dropping: from the shoes snatched right of Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2010 runway to that fur robe Gaga wears at the end with the trailing polar bear head. The whole thing is quite Addams Family-esque if you ask me, which is always a good thing.
I would be tempted to sell my soul for these Alexander McQueen knuckles, though at $550, that might not be completely necessary. My love of skull jewelry is well documented but this is badass on a whole other level.
Granted they’re wildly expensive and there are few places you can wear shoes like these outside of Emerald City, but that doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate the beauty and originality of these regal McQueen loafers. Coated with a metallic sheen, they look made of the shiny skin of a dorado.
If you buy them, please send pictures along with reaction shots of peoples’ faces.
